Home Sweet Home

After exactly two weeks in the hospital Steven got the all clear to head home. So we bundled him up and...

Steven seems to have settled in quite nicely.

The Food Fairy Came!

The nurses in the NICU say the Food Fairy stops by the cribs of babies in the NICU and all of a sudden they learn how to eat. We didn't quite believe them until we saw it for ourselves. Starting Thursday afternoon, Steven started eating more and more from the bottle. He got his nasal tube out on Friday morning and he is most likely coming home tomorrow! So exciting.

He is still on oxygen and will probably come home on it. This happens fairly often here in Colorado. Nothing to do with him being premature and everything to do with living a mile above sea level.

Chillin' In the NICU

Steven is making slow and steady progress here in the hospital. Thankfully, they have given us a room to stay in (even though I am discharged,) so we can be near him. He had some jaundice so he had to do phototherapry and wear some cool shades for a few days. But now that is taken care of and he gets to wear clothes. He's still working on taking food from a bottle and gaining weight. Once he gets this down, he will be able to go home.

He is here!

Baby Steven was born yesterday at 9:16 am by c-section. He made it to 34.5 weeks and weighs 5lbs 9oz. He is in the NICU but making great strides and is already breathing on his own and rooting around for some food. Of course the nurses will never really give you a time line for when he might come home. But our guess is that while he may not be ready by Wednesday when I am discharged, he should not be far behind me.
